Some Counselors work across many believe systems, the traditional and the non-traditional, the expressive and the solemn. Counselors are usually degreed, licensed and/or have their own ministry. Spiritual Directors, Doctors of Psychology and Doctors of Theology will often work as Counselors. |

Spiritual Therapy is a healing process for exploring the past and understanding how it effects the present. It is also a process for addressing trauma and becoming whole again. Spiritual Therapy is a combination of spiritual guidance and psychotherapy. Many transpersonal psychologists have a background in both traditional psychology and spiritual or holistic practices. Spiritual Therapists are often MFT's (marriage-family therapist), psychologists, psychotherapists or doctors of psychology. |

Some are leading edge explorers creating and discerning new spiritual technologies and ways of being. Some are bringing back to light traditions long forgotten. Given the nature of their work, the Spiritual Practitioners listed on SoulFriends may not have a formal education in their chosen field of study and/or be licensed in that field of study. Their years of experience and depth of understanding however can certainly make up for what is missing. |
