|For Goodness Sake|
Yvonne Clark Serocki, R.N., Ph.D.
If you are anything like me you are probably baffled and amazed by the plethora of different beliefs people have about God. Google says there are between 21 and over 4 thousand different religions in the world! Within the Christian religion itself there are anywhere from 35 to over 40,000 different sects. Within each sect there are also very differing views, but people come together and choose to agree for the sake of the group.
There are over 7 billion people on earth. Each one has a different finger print, no two are exactly alike. Therefore, it makes sense that there are so many views of God. As I like to say, there are 33 Baskin Robbins flavors of ice cream; there are infinite flavors of the one Living One!
The old testament speaks of the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob: the same one God! The same could be said of the God of every human being on earth. Some people make their own self their god. Some say they don’t believe in God, but make science or technology or something else they highly value their god. Some have even made the male sexual organ their god.
What would happen if we all decided to let go and let God be God, and let each human being speak, think, feel, and believe what they believe about God? For goodness’ sake, couldn’t we all just be free to worship as we see fit? “For freedom Christ has set us free!” “If the Son sets you free you are free indeed!” Can’t we just be free for Goodness sake?
Free will and choice has to be united with personal responsibility. It is never okay to hurt or cause harm. Pride comes before a fall; arrogance leads to stumbling and falling. Ignorance, blindness, unconsciousness and evil lead to more darkness. What you do to others will come back to you on some level. The negative ego is a false mind that is never in relationship with anything than itself. Hurt individuals hurt others. The psyche of human beings contains everything that ever was or will be, therefore, contains thousands of sub-personalities, archetypes, angels, demons, entities or gods. The collective unconscious that we are all a part of contains gazillions of entities, vibrations, or energies, some good, some bad.
Beyond karma is God. Beyond concepts of right and wrong there is a field. Beyond the tree of the knowledge of good and evil there is a tree of life! You will know a tree by its fruit. I can’t think of a single religion that has not been producing some bad fruit! Maybe it is time to move as a collective beyond religion, beyond concepts of God, beyond thoughts, beyond feelings, beyond ego, beyond images, beyond projections about God, beyond archetypes, beyond angels and demons to the one Living Source of all creation, for Goodness sake!!!!
